We publish information about the UK charity sector and run a directory of registered charities. We take care over what we publish, but we cannot guarantee that everything on the website is complete, current or suitable for your situation.
Nothing here is legal, financial, tax or professional advice. If a decision matters, take proper advice on it.
What we check, and what we do not
Before a charity appears in the directory, we check its registration number against the register it is on: the Charity Commission for England and Wales, OSCR in Scotland, or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
That is the extent of it. We do not audit accounts, assess governance, review safeguarding, or verify what an organisation says about its own work. A listing means an organisation is registered. It does not mean we recommend it.
Check any charity yourself before giving. All three registers are free to search and show accounts, trustees and filing history.
Media Hub content
The Media Hub carries three kinds of content, and the label on each piece tells you which you are reading.
- Our own writing
- Contributed articles from charities and people working in the sector, which carry the author’s name, role and organisation
- Sponsored content, which is paid for and labelled as such
Views expressed in contributed and sponsored pieces are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect our position. We edit for clarity and check claims where we can, but responsibility for the accuracy of a contributed piece rests with the person who wrote it.
Directory listings
Listings are written by the charities themselves. We do not verify descriptions, impact claims, images or contact details beyond checking the registration number.
A Featured badge is a paid placement, not a recommendation. A Spotlight badge is awarded automatically to profiles readers are viewing most, and says nothing about the quality of an organisation.
We are not responsible for disputes, misrepresentation or financial loss arising from your dealings with a listed organisation.
Campaigns
Featured campaign placements are paid. We check that a campaign comes from a registered charity. We do not assess whether a target is realistic, how funds are used, or whether a campaign succeeds.
We do not process donations and take no share of anything you give. Buttons take you to the charity’s own site or fundraising platform, and what happens after that is between you and them.
Events
Event details are supplied by the organiser. We do not sell tickets, take bookings or handle payments, and we do not check what an event is like or how it is run.
Dates move, venues change, and events are cancelled. Check with the organiser before travelling or paying.
Advertising and sponsored content
We carry advertising and sponsored content, and this is how the website is funded. Paid content is labelled, and its links are marked as paid.
We do not verify advertisers’ claims about their own products or services. Including an advert is not an endorsement. Evaluate anything advertised here as you would anywhere else.
Our relationship with Evolve Catalyst
Nonprofit Voice is a service of Evolve Catalyst LTD, which provides charity management consultancy to UK charities. It is not a separate organisation.
External links
We link to charity websites, donation platforms, booking pages and regulators. A link is not an endorsement of the organisation behind it.
We have no control over other websites and cannot guarantee their accuracy or security. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave ours.
Limits of our responsibility
Nothing in this disclaimer limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this website, from your dealings with a listed charity, campaign, event or advertiser, or from anything on a website we link to. Our liability is limited as set out in our Terms of Service.
Removing content
We may edit, remove or decline any listing, article, campaign, event or advert that breaks our Terms of Service, is misleading or defamatory, no longer meets our checks, for example where a charity loses its registered status, or that we consider inappropriate.
We will tell the organisation concerned and explain why. Where a paid placement is removed, the Terms of Service set out what happens next.

We update this page when what we do changes. The date below shows when it last changed.
