About Nonprofit Voice
What is Nonprofit Voice?
A publication for the UK charity sector, with a directory of registered charities alongside it. We publish stories, guidance and news, and the directory gives readers somewhere to go when they want to act on what they have read.
Is it free to read?
Yes. No subscription, no paywall, and nothing held back for members.
Who publishes Nonprofit Voice?
Evolve Catalyst LTD, a company registered in England and Wales that provides charity management consultancy.
How is the website funded?
Advertising, sponsored articles and paid placements. Directory listings are free and always will be.
Listing your charity
How much does a listing cost?
Nothing. Listing is free; there is no commission on anything a supporter gives you, and we never handle the money.
Who can list?
Any registered UK charity. We accept registrations with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, OSCR in Scotland, and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
How do I add my charity?
Fill in the form on the List Your Charity page. Have your registration number and logo to hand, and it takes a few minutes.
What is on a free profile?
- Charity name, logo and tagline
- Registration number
- Mission statement and a full description of your work
- Charity video
- Email, phone and address
- Social links and a link to your website
- A support link to your own donation or volunteering page
- Listing in your sector and region, and in directory search
How long does it take to go live?
We check your registration number against the relevant register first. If something does not match, we will reject the listing.
Can I change my profile later?
Yes, at any time.
Featured and Spotlight
What is a Featured listing?
A paid option that puts your charity at the top of the relevant searches with a Featured badge, on the directory home page and on your sector and region pages. It is a paid position, not a recommendation from us.
What is a Spotlight badge?
Nothing to do with money. Spotlight is awarded automatically to profiles readers are viewing most.
How do I get a Featured listing?
Email us, and we will come back with cost and availability.
Getting published
Can my charity write for the Media Hub?
Yes. We publish work from people running UK charities: what you tried, what happened, what you would do differently.
Does it cost anything?
Not if the piece carries no promotion. That means no links to your own website or services in the body, no product or brand mentions, and no call to action at the end. You get a byline, your role, your organisation and a one-line bio.
What if I want to promote something?
Then it is a sponsored placement, and there is a fee. Campaigns, appeals, launches and service announcements all fall here. If you are not sure which one yours is, send it, and we will tell you before you do any more work.
Can I use AI to write it?
Drafting with an AI tool is fine. You are responsible for every claim, figure, quote and source in the piece, and we check them.
Will you edit my article?
We edit for clarity, length and house style. Anything that changes your meaning goes back to you before publication.
Advertising and sponsored content
What can I buy?
A sponsored article on the Media Hub, a featured directory listing, a featured campaign placement, or display placement in the sponsors block.
What does it cost?
Rates depend on placement and duration, so we quote individually. Email us with what you want to promote and roughly when.
How is paid content marked?
A sponsored article carries an advertisement feature label under the headline and sits in the Sponsored Content category. Every link in a paid placement is marked as paid.
What do you not accept?
Gambling, adult content, payday lending, crypto and investment schemes, anything outside the UK charity sector, and placements bought for the link rather than the audience.
For donors and supporters
Does a listing mean you recommend the charity?
No. We confirm an organisation is registered. We do not assess how it is run or how it spends its money, so do your own checks before giving.
How do I check a charity is genuine?
Every profile shows a registration number. Charities in England and Wales are on the Charity Commission register, Scottish charities are with OSCR, and Northern Irish charities are with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. All three are free to search and show accounts, trustees and filing history.
Do you process donations?
No, and we take no share of anything you give. Support links go to the charity’s own website or fundraising platform.
How do I find a charity?
Search the directory by name, cause or region, or read about charities on the Media Hub first.
Campaigns and events
How do I feature a campaign?
Apply through the campaigns application form. Featured placement is paid and added by us, and nothing goes live until you have agreed the cost and dates.
How do I list an event?
Use the event form. Listing an event is free, and we check the details before anything goes live.
Do you sell tickets?
No. Every event links to the charity’s own booking or information page, and anything you pay goes to them.
Your information
How do you use the information I give you?
To create your listing and to reply to you. The Privacy Policy sets out the details, including how long we keep things and how to ask for them to be removed.
How do I get in touch?
Use the contact form, or email contact@evolvecatalyst.org.
