1. Who we are
Nonprofit Voice is a service of Evolve Catalyst LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16007722, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.
Evolve Catalyst LTD is the data controller for personal information collected through nonprofitvoice.org.uk. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
This policy is governed by the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Information you give us
Listing a charity
Your name and email address, your charity’s name, registration number, description, logo, contact details, address, website, social links and support link.
Submitting an article
Your name, role, organisation, email address, a short biography and the article itself.
Applying for a campaign placement or listing an event
Your name, email address, charity name and registration number, and the details of the campaign or event.
Contacting us or subscribing
Your name and email address, whether you are writing as an organisation or an individual, and anything you choose to put in your message.
3. Information we collect automatically
We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used. It collects pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, how you arrived at the website and how long you stayed. This is set only where you have given consent through our cookie banner.
Our hosting provider also keeps server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
4. Information we publish
Nonprofit Voice is a public website. Some of what you send us is published, and you should assume anything in these categories can be read by anyone and indexed by search engines.
- Charity directory listings, including the contact details, address and links you provide
- Articles, with the author’s name, role, organisation and biography
- Campaign placements and event listings, including the organisation named and the links given
Only send us contact details you are content to publish. A general charity email address is usually more appropriate than a personal one. You can ask us to change or remove a published listing at any time.
We do not publish the name or email address of the person who submits a form unless they are the named author of an article.
5. Why we use your information, and our lawful basis
- To create and maintain your directory listing, and to publish articles, campaigns and events you submit. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, or legitimate interests in running the publication
- To check a charity’s registration against the relevant register. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in making sure listed organisations are genuine
- To reply to enquiries. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us
- To send our newsletter. Lawful basis: consent
- To understand how the website is used. Lawful basis: consent for the cookies, legitimate interests for the analysis
- To keep records of paid placements and advertising. Lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests
6. Cookies
Essential cookies
A small number of cookies are needed for the site to work, including remembering your cookie choices and keeping you signed in if you have an account. These do not require consent.
Analytics cookies
Google Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
We do not currently use advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent before setting them.
7. Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
We use a small number of suppliers who process information on our behalf, including our website host, our email provider, Google Analytics and the tools that run our forms and newsletter. Each is bound to use the information only for the service they provide to us.
We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
8. Where your information is held
Some of our suppliers, including Google, process information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards permitted under UK data protection law, which may include UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
9. How long we keep it
- Directory listings, articles, campaigns and events: for as long as they are published, and removed on request
- Enquiries and form submissions: 2 years
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe
- Records relating to paid placements: six years, to meet accounting requirements
10. Keeping information secure
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to submitted information is limited to the people who need it, and accounts are protected by passwords and, where available, two-step verification.
No website can promise complete security, and we do not. If a breach happens that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you, and we will report it to the Information Commissioner’s Office where the law requires.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete information, where we have no continuing reason to keep it
- Restrict how we use it while a question is resolved
- Provide it in a portable format, or send it to another organisation
- Stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time, for the newsletter or for cookies
Email contact@evolvecatalyst.org. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather hear from you first so we can put it right.
12. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
13. Other websites
We link to charity websites, donation platforms, event booking pages and regulators. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, and their privacy policies apply once you leave ours.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do changes. The date below shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
