Solace UK
Helping revert sisters in difficulty
About the Charity
Solace is a registered charity helping revert women in difficulty beyond the shahadah for over 13 years.
Our story
In 2010, Solace began as an idea by its current CEO, Aliyah Umm Raiyaan. Aliyah and a group of women who were concerned about the difficulties revert women were facing, both in the short and long term, and their variety of needs, then worked on that idea until Solace was established.
Whilst there are many organisations catering for the educational and Islamic needs of revert women, there appeared to be a lack of support and provision of services catering specifically for the holistic needs of revert women. Recognising the need for an organisation with the aim of supporting revert women through their various difficulties led to the creation of Solace.
In January 2011, Solace launched and the following year, Solace became a registered charity.
In 2016, Solace established a branch in the Midlands and in 2017, the first international branch in the Netherlands began operations.
In 2022, Solace expanded to the North of England to cater to revert women without access to revert support who are living in more isolated areas.
Solace provides a range of services including emotional, financial, marital, legal, and social support for revert women facing difficulties, regardless of whether they have been Muslim for 2 weeks or 20 years. Solace supports them when they are going through life’s problems alone, suffering in silence, or no longer connected with their faith.
Though based in the UK, Solace has received support requests from revert women globally, underscoring the need for the expansion of our services.
