About the Charity

Charity Mission
To use surplus, fit-for-consumption food to feed those who are vulnerable in the UK by supporting front-line charitable organizations that tackle the cause and not just the symptoms of food poverty.

FareShare is the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, harnessing the power of food to change lives. We were born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste. This belief is as central to our work now as it was 30 years ago.

What we do

We believe that no good food should go to waste. We redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals.

Food waste and hunger in the UK

Millions of tonnes of good food is wasted by the UK food industry every year. At the same time, millions of people are struggling to afford to eat. Our work addresses these two issues by redistributing food industry surplus, which would otherwise go to waste, to the people who need it most.

Our impact

Over 4 million tonnes of good to eat surplus food goes to waste in the UK food industry every year, meanwhile millions are facing food insecurity.

We strengthen communities by taking good food, that would otherwise go to waste, and getting it to local charities who use it to support people in their communities.
